I am intrigued with this thread reading the chartists dialogue and strategies - it certainly is an art form. I am inclined to agree that it's based on previous history and tries to define trends that may or may not recurr. Knowing how erratic and unpredictable the market is, I do wonder how effective the charts are - you just look at the total erratic and unpredictable bahaviour of the PLS sp where there seems to be incessant manipulation which I doubt a chart can predict - too involved for me I'm afraid. I'll stick to gut feel.
