Some trading platforms allow you to set a conditional order. You could look into that to see if it will help you reduce losses you wouldnt be comfortable with. I started alot smaller when i begun trading. I figured if i couldn't make $500 grow. Then i probably couldn't make $10,000 grow.
There is alot of information available on the ASX website, but you may find it more beneficial to meet with a financial planner to discuss your goals and risk tolerance.
