Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt, but I believe the VW announcement is spin or advertising for a JV partner. This ploy could be similar to what Tesla announced at their battery dat last September. Most OEM's don't really want to swim upstream, nonetheless, it should ignite some M&A activity, bringing forward decisions from those thinking of making a move, companies with government backing (US, EU, Japan, SK, Indo, etc).
I'm often wrong, so if VW are serious about moving upstream, who do they take out? Do they finance multiple smaller projects (given all but 1 of the based load projects are gone)?
IMO, this is good subject to discuss on here, would love to hear others thoughts........
