Interesting that you have alluded to a short position of greater than 10% in your post. In one of the recent Joe Lowry articles that I saw a couple of weeks ago where the topic of short positions came up and the other guy who was in the discussion with Joe automatically said that if you ever find a stock that is being shorted by around 20% then BUY it. He did not qualify his statement about how bad or how good the company was, he just said buy it.

I guess what he was saying was that there must be a limit to where shorts over saturate their positions and eventually shite in their own nest when it's time to extricate themselves from their short positions.

Sorry, I can't quote the person who was in the discussion with JL, but it did imprint indelibly upon my memory what he said as I had never thought of shorting in that way.
