The list shows almost 25% Vanguard & related companies ownership. I've posted on this relationship before and I am sure most on here are aware of it.
they could easily be lending less than half their managed shares to drive this volume of shorts.
Given they also manage shares on behalf of many super funds as well this total held could likely be much higher.
They are just making money short and long for their clients at the same time imo. The short borrower takes all the risk.
