ASX Exchange releases the data everyday like clock work around 11:55 am. You can google "asx short data" and you get a HTML page and a website to download CSV or PDF for aggregated data.
It not hidden everything is public. You just don't want to search for it. Your also getting "changes in holdings" which reflects the hand change of shares.
