A big winner if a Li2SO4 plant is built in Port Hedland could be LPD I surmise. They identified some years back that the conventional flowsheet for Li2SO4 to LCE produced Na2SO4 as a by product. The market for Na2SO4 is mature, it cannot be dumped due it’s water solubility so is costly to get rid of.
They have a patent process that has a better carbon footprint, 5% saving capex and opex against the conventional flowsheet for the production of LCE. They have demonstrated this process of late with a number of spod producers.
