Many short sales theories are tossed around here. Like shorts selling to shorts. To get it straight a short sale is borrowing shares at a certain price and purchasing shares to pay those borrowed shares back when you close short position. Purchasing the shares at a lower price than you borrowed them give you a profit and the opposite if you purchase higher. i would think it would be hard to borrow shares that are already borrowed (I think at that point there are not any shares to borrow). You can also short a stock to lock in a specific profit in a certain range. Shorting is for sure more than one strategy. Shorting is money management that most care not to do because it is not easy. Shorting probably creates a more liquid market in the long run and is what makes the hedge fund industry what it is. So get over it, its just part of the curve.
