No doubt that the flow rates would have to be tested over time.
In the case of my home bore, the drillers filled out a chart which they gave me showing the depth where the water started and flow rates at different levels. The water level was at 25m and the hole was 40m deep.
I don't know how they did this but this information was used to determine the solar pump size. Been running for almost 12 months now. Out of interest the drilling cost $150/m or $6,000 for the one hole.
