Hi Extralite
I think there may be some confusion in regards to the wording "powerlines".
If you read the announcement at the top it says they were officially given permission to "operate in-building powerline communications networks".
Thats IN-BUILDING powerlines..........meaning the powerlines that run inside the walls of your home.
The reason that this announcement is so important, is SKG were basicly installing all of this equipment into apartments on a "tacit approval" (meaning assumed approval) from the ACA.
If the ACA had rejected the application, we would have lost a heap of money ;-)
The real strength that SKG have is the long term deals they sign with the building owners (not to be confused with the apartment owners that live in the building).
Basicly apartment owners only sign a 1 year deal but the building owners sign 5 and 10 year deals so that no other wireless provider can steal the business from SKG.
This provides a barrier to competition, and will guarantee that Skynetglobal is a dominate player in wireless home automation.
SKG's business model depends on a low sign up rate of about 15% of apartment dwellings.
