Drilling : As no significant hydrocarbons have been encountered at Simpson 1 either during drilling or following logging interpretation, the decision has been made to plug and abandon the well. The well had reached a Total Depth of 2,165m in ?Warburton Basin sediments.
Although the well was not a commercial success, it will provide valuable insights into the geology of the Pedirka Basin after all of the data has been reviewed and analysed.
Further announcements about the remaining initial exploration programme will be made in due course.
