Hungary needs cheap energy and trained workforce, says Orbán in TV interview
Hungary needs cheap energy and a highly trained workforce, the prime minister said in an interview to local television station Somogy TV.
In the programme broadcast late on Tuesday evening, Orban said there were two reasons why Europe’s competitiveness had declined: a social benefits culture had come about in western Europe, and this had been true of Hungary, too, except that “now we have put an end to this over the past four years; the second reason is that the United States had made the kind of technological advancements that had reduced electricity costs by a third.
“So we have two things to do: we must raise a trained workforce with students graduating from school who want to work, and we must generate cheap energy,” he said.
Responding to the suggestion that Hungary is not an energy superpower, Orban said, “We’re doing well in respect of nuclear energy”.
He added that Hungarian nuclear energy would continue to play a leading role in central Europe.
With nuclear being on the main agenda, WHE's and the state company's uranium will play a major role
