The amount of Pr in A PM is very small and many PM magnets have none. Pr is very Useful in many applications. Nd Metal is needed to make PMs. IT has proven to be easier to separate the PR from Nd when converting oxides to pure metals. The value of NdPr only stays high as long as there is no low cost way to separate Nd and Pr earlier in the process. I still think a great value add for Lynas is to add pure metal separation after SX7. The biggest problem with this is both Nd and Pr are highly reactive to oxygen. Therefore they have to be shipped in a way that prevents this reaction. Otherwise the customer just receives separated Nd and Pr oxide.
