    That old chestnut...

Problem is frasier, you and I might be able to recognise a political slant in news reporting, but there are plenty out there who just read and believe what they are reading is the truth. They buy the same paper at the same place and at the same time everyday. They are creatures of habit. They don't notice the political commentary in some of the more obscure stories even, and they believe the cartoonist is on the ball without question. And the News Ltd head honchos know all this.

You can't just say 'if you don't like it don't read it' because YOU know there are people who will read it anyway. All newspapers, and current affairs programs need to show more responsibility for what they report. Misleading headlines, cartoons depicting people as horrible creatures or whatnot are used to drive an agenda whereas a newspaper should be reporting the news.

And this is not just about political reporting. Newspapers have ridiculed, defamed and just plain hurt innocent people before and when they are caught out at best you might find a correction or apology buried in the paper on page 37. This is not good enough, these organisations need to be held accountable for their actions.
