    Abbott's position on this is nonsensical. He argues that it's a matter for the public not politicians. That would be fair enough, except that he's not putting it up for a public vote at the next election. All he's said is that the government will review it's position in the lead up to the next election, something which might include a plebiscite at a later date. All he's done is cobble together an obstructionist position to fit with his antiquated position on the matter. If he supports a public vote he should bring it on at the earliest realistic opportunity...a plebiscite on the day of the 2016 election.
