PM pushes for public vote on gay marriage, page-49

What I am saying is that if the vote is after the next election it will just be delayed as their is no firm commitment.
If he said that a vote would be held at the time of the next election that would end a lot of the media and bad press ,given that his standing is in an election loosing position another issue that the Labor party , Greens and press can belt around with is simply weak leadership and poor political judgement.
He is saying to the electorate that I don't want to change the law and we are not going to allow you to settle it,its just another case of Abbott being dragged to the bleeding obvious ,his is a smart man but very dumb on tactics.
