I Live in Perth in what is supposedly a strong Labor seat, with lots of tradies and young families. Walking round collecting for the Salvos yesterday, I can tell you that many in our regular collection area are INCENSED about the deal done to bring in Foreign Workers, and totally disenchanted with this Government. The things they told me (unprompted) in response to the simple question "How has your year been?" would make your toes curl.

What is interesting is that we also have a lot of NZ people in the area, and they aren't happy about the deal either! I think that the number of local people that would like to go up to the mines is vastly underrated, and we should be spending the money to train them. Especially young people who don't have the skills or experience to apply for many of the positions.
