A number of the investment banks did a round trip about 12mths ago to verify supply and since then have been reporting on mine/production progress across chinese and african sources. A lot of this information has been missing from commentary provided by industry stalwarts, including experts in the field (ref RK equity amongst others).
It's worth keeping an eye and including it in any global demand discussions which hardly anyone seems to be doing. Hence the surprise from these sources including the impact on prices:
