Hasn't MGO allowed for onshore tailings?

Given the current issues faced by Ramu in relation to submarine disposal of waste (the preferred route for tailings disposal at Yandera), Marengo have a number of alternative strategies for its waste disposal pending the outcome on the current injunction over Ramu to be finalised next month. Whilst the preferred option remains submarine disposal, Marengo has the ability to construct a number of tailings dams within the mine site area. They estimate the additional capital expenditure associated with tailings dam construction would be under $US100m, spent over a number of years.
