When Australia relinquished its UN mandate or whatever the arrangement was, did we just walk away? Just been watching a segment of an ABC report on land management etc in PNG and it's a garbage dump. We owe these people a debt of honour for their help in WW2 and surely that means extending a helping hand for long term development in terms of everything that affects their lives. Sure as hell if we don't do a lot more China will.
