Ethically a great idea but in the real world of health care it's all about cost:benefit ratio and who's going to pay. Private pet owners and private pet insurers yes, but native fauna is more of a grey area.. I understand the government has a duty of care and but a lot of the time it's charities and volunteer vets like Greencross looking after them and I doubt they'd want to front the huge costs involved.
