    I’m praying that I’m wrong, but my opinion is that

    IF

    this study into BTM pans out (it’s at least similarly effective at supporting islet cells, and considering how well vascularised somewhere like the liver is, I doubt BTM could fully bridge that gap. However, given the other advantages of implanting into the neodermis, close enough is probably good enough, assuming supply issue gets solved)

    AND

    research goes in a PARTICULAR direction (i.e. not using encapsulation or other methods of protecting from the immune system. The standard of care would need to be something along the lines of cheap, genetically modified, lab grown cells as the chosen method to solve immune/supply issues)

    THEN

    This could be an ENORMOUS revenue stream for us…far far bigger than burns could ever be. And diabetes would be cured.

    BUT this would only in a few decades time.
