My thoughts around the "fish skin" purchase is that the buyer only wanted to spend $2bil to complement their offer vs spending more to buy the future SOC. The future SOC would cost much more than $2bil and wouldn't be let go by the board and existing shareholders. Hostile takeover would also be hard given the large holding by existing shareholders. Attempting to purchase lots of share on the market would naturally put the share price up and they would end up paying maybe your expected $6-$7bil anyway. So why not wait for the PNV board and current management do the heavy lifting, then make an offer when we become the SOC. My thoughts anyway if I had $$$$billions to spend.
