Avita has announced today a development and distribution agreement with Regenity Biosciences for a resorbable collagen dermal matrix.
The newly-developed matrix is expected to receive 510(k) clearance later this year and Avita intends to trial the matrix, versus other commercially available matrices, in combination with Recell in two-stage grafting. An additional trial will assess the matrix combined with Recell in a single stage grafting procedure.
The source of collagen isn’t specified but other Regenity bioresorbable collagen products that have been cleared by the FDA are sourced from bovine dermis.
