I agree that there’s a level of ambiguity in the patents.

The description and claims suggest that there is the option for the internal structural layer to be either biodegradable or non-biodegradable, but the preference is for biodegradable.

I took further cues from comments made by Paul Brennan.

In his address at the AGM he said of the hernia products

These products are significantly different to current products on the market and offer all the benefits of NovoSorb in a unique product design and application, a fully resorbable hernia device.

Further, in the recent interview with Alan Kohler, he stated

So that's a $2 billion market space that we'll be entering that's growing at over 7 per cent a year thanks to obesity and with class action lawsuits on permanent meshes, surgeons are looking for a device that can repair a hernia and then dissolve away, and that's our sweet spot.
