Novosorb BTM features in Vol 63. of the Journal of Paediatric Surgery Case Reports (Dec, 2020.)
BTM was successfully used in a two stage repair of a 9yo male with significant skin and soft tissue injuries following a substantial trauma.
Crowley et al. appear to be the first to use BTM in trauma resulting in significant tissue loss in the paediatric population, again opening another potential avenue of application for this product.
One potential disadvantage found using the two-stage technique was the extended time taken for BTM to integrate (up to 6 weeks) followed by the time taken for the SSG to heal however the consensus was that the extra time was worth it given the extremely good outcomes this patient had.
