The effects of Delta on hospitals will be a short shock due to the fact that it will sweep quickly through the unvaccinated population, with the result that the victims will have a potentially robust acquired immunity as a result, thus mitigating the downside of having a certain percentage of the population unwilling to take the jab. It’s also fortunate that Delta seems to be far less lethal than earlier varieties. It’s also true that the medical community has become more adept at treating the seriously ill, preventing many deaths.
