The project that Establishment Labs was supposedly working on seemed to be to coat their breast implant devices in BTM so that they would become fixed in place as the tissues replaced it. It's uncertain how far they got with the idea but you would think that it would require some preclinical (animal) testing once the basic mechanics were sorted out. That would take time, but it's also likely that Polynovo management asked them repeatedly how they were getting on and eventually figured out the project was stalled for some reason and they weren't doing much. So they took it back. The idea does seem a good one, but there could also be other possible ways to implement it. None of it will happen over night, but IMO it's not critical to the company's success because there is a ton of business just growing BTM sales outside of burns.
