Integra is manufactured from bovine type 1 tendon collagen and chondroitin-6-sulfate from shark cartilage and is sealed on one side with a silicon layer.
PriMatrix is derived from foetal bovine dermis – “one of the purest sources of collagen available”, according to the publicity. The key selling point for PriMatrix is that it is particularly rich in type 111 collagen which aids development and healing of tissues. It doesn’t have a sealing layer, so in that sense, compares more closely with MTX that BTM.
PriMatrix is used in a wide range of indications, but seems to have been particularly promoted in extremities wound reconstruction and treatment of DFUs.
Agreed, this may give an unexpected leg-up to MTX's entry into the US market.
