To the contrary, the unequivocal weakness of a short position is facing theoretically unlimited losses. The last thing you'd want as a short seller is traders/investors that disagree with you and know where your pain point is.
Analysing market positioning is not only deserved, but essential when large directional positions are visible.
Short sellers fundamental views are often wrong.
