How do you know that the shorts added this year have been closed?
Cool, I could have worded my comment better to read 'on average, the shorts that were added this year and also closed this year, were essentially profitless', and my wording still wouldn't be great, but it is brief!
Also, to be clear, about 26m short shares were added this year at the peak short position, while only 18m have been closed. I had assumed the market short position was well known.
