Get the lap top checked, but first just make sure that there is a good airflow in the required areas/ air vents, sometimes underneath. I had a computer that did similar, nearly drove me insane, or maybe it actually did.It was happening at random times for days on end, losing lots of work in the process.... turned out to be a faulty ram chip. It was replaced and the problem vanished..... after first giving that old ram chip a damn good thrashing.
