I know what you mean re the bookends. The artificial sell order pile(a look at the actual orders makes that pretty clear) seems to be where the bears are trying to hold the SP for the day IMO. If there is a strong buying surge I have noticed the upper order bookend moves up a bit - probably in case the dummy orders get bought. Conversely, when the low end moves it seems to be an encouragement for bears to sell down more. If they have to shift the upper bookend up then it tells me there is real buying pressure.
