1.32% of total shares shorted is not significant but not insignificant either. As far as showing in charts, shorting is borrowing shares to sell them then later down the line buying them hopefully at a lower price to return them to the lender. So they are 'in the charts' as additional selling pressure if the shorting level is increasing. Eventually they have to buy them and then they join the buy side of the chart.
It's more of a risk consideration IMO adding to the volume of shares traded but also to the sentiment if there is lots of short trading going on.
