What we should be asking our pollies, is to level the playing field where we can have any number of trades in one day for one brokerage, it would be interesting to see how long it was before the rot stopped?
But I would much prefer that they banned the practice and let the market decide what a fair price was for a share, not some algorithmic trading program.
The shorting should also be banned, or a period placed on it where the shares have to be held for a certain period or a very heavy tax is applied.
