Yeah I’ve definitely seen the use of moon boots.
Friend of mine just had consecutive bilateral amputations and they used a moon boot ( with wound not enclosed ) on his right foot where they took the great toe off down to the metatarsophalangeal joint.
His left foot lost the 3rd 4th and 5th phalanges but no boot. Guessing because the weight bearing can be transferred to the hallux??
