yep, and the constant references to biotech to make analogies he understands is rather lacklustre.

he categorically states that he has no idea, so not sure why he is on the marketing podcasts.

dram and flash aren't going anywhere, plus industry specialists all agree universal memory whilst ideal is just a pipedream. the reason being is that memory characteristics have a push/pull relationship, if you want speed and endurance you sacrifice on retention and persistence aka dram. if you want retention and persistence you sacrifice on speed and endurance aka flash.

plus there is a cost relationship, dram is around 40x to 60x more expensive than flash.

plus his dram/flash example, whilst addressing the two pillars of memory is ignoring all the other types of memory that exist and have differing characteristics depending on their end use.

he touched on high density, which implies low cost, such as flash, however these comparisons have dropped away compared to when I first invested in the company.

he touched on retention but being persistent was a key factor and why some here (wrongly) believe they were making universal memory, Dave doesn't seem to understand that brushing past this with no more than "some persistence" is damaging due to what the company has said for years. the former cto states that 4ds cells can go into years, so clearly these speed tweaked ones don't imo

he obviously believes speed and endurance is enough to counter the above, whereas I disagree and hence he isn't at the helm of a billion dollar company.

he did mention the difference between filament and area based reram but not in a logical step when explaining why 4DS reram is different from its competitors who also have a justified place in the memory space.

hopefully following IMEC meetings they will give a clear indication of how tunable the memory is or not, more colour with regards to retention and where it sits in augmenting dram.
