Thought this was interesting while we are awaiting the next drill results from Grace shallow and Grace deep + Sovereign and the Penny West Deep South targets (4 drill rigs in operation, DD night and day). None of the considerable resources being uncovered by Rox and Venus have been officially measured to 2012 JORC compliance standards so I have been musing over the historical estimates.
Above is the a table showing some of the historical high grade resource estimates from 2006.
These results have been subjected to rigorous scrutiny by 2 independent resource consultants and they stand up.
What interested me was the 4g/t cut off and the changes in the resource estimates according to cut off grades.
With the current and likely price of gold when Rox and Venus start near term production 2 g/t is very profitable which adds 75,600 ozs.
The total historical high grade JORC at Younami stands at 657,900 ounces grading 8.5 g/t.
You can probably see where I am going with this. If the cut off was a very profitable 4 g/t instead of 8.5 g/t what would the JORC be?
At 2g/t would it be 1m oz au?
The price of gold has dramatically lowered profitable cut off values and increased the value of Venus and Rox's resources.
The humble Plant Zone with a historical 65,700 oz au (and now at least double) is no longer bulk feed to mix in with higher grades to lower its AISC.
It is now an important resource in its own right.
The price is gold is transformational and it would be interesting to revise the 1.2m oz au Younami JORC with the current gold price in mind.
