    From everything I've ever read here, any general reference to the gold price is the USD price. If people are talking about the price in $A, they will make specific reference to that fact.

    PS...gold closed at $1,383 (US), so didn't climb back to that $1,400 level. $A now 94.97c US, so some compensation at least.
