Such low vols on a falling sp suggests accumulation & manipulation. Stop losses being triggered is normally a sign of panic selling, but on such low vols I strongly doubt the stop-loss thesis, you'd see waves of selling with vol.
Now, assuming manipulation of the sp for accumulation (a common activity) this is actually a positive vote of confidence that the accumulator (smart money) sees an advantageous situation/odds-on potential and is taking a position on the rails. In which case you'd be courageous (see Yes Minister) to bet against the house.
I'll wait to see if there's a further break down before I dip my toe in the water.
In this situation I'm looking at a small initial stake that I can build/average up on, also giving me the option to nip my meagre losses in the bud if things turn pear-shape. (As I've seen posted astutely on HC before - I'd rather have 50% of something that 100% of nothing.)
