I also found an interesting Malaysian blog. The read gives the impression locals are very calm about Lynas. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2173552
The point is no big protests are coming and the shorts are on the clock. This will go on till the 20th so unless there is a run up they could stay, but I think they will find better targets.
