According to Chan Thomas, the Bible talks about two(there were more than two from other evidence) extinction events(caused by polar shift). The first, about 11,500 years ago, survivors being Adam and Eve. The second was Noah's flood. He is just trying to put out a more accurate version of these stories.
'The Adam and Eve Story' comes from Thomas's view that the book of Genesis is really a parable about the collapse of a previous civilisation which became extinct before Noah's flood.
It is really a warning about a possible next extinction event, which could happen in less than 1 day.
