It's also a broken society when mobs of extremists can trash and burn down entire city centres, and get a free pass from the media just because 'black lives matter'. Armed people defending their businesses is a natural reaction to this. Yes there are right wing nutters stirring up trouble. But treating their counterpart left wing nutters with kid gloves, as well as hyper-racialising everything and imagining white supremacists are under every bed, is crushing the political centre and polarising society. Do you think burning down people's businesses won't cause a reaction? If your beef is with the police, do you think trashing your local grocery will somehow help? Do you think tearing down statues of literally any historical figure who happens to be white will lead to racial harmony? Do you think a university that comes out in defence of an academic who tweets "white lives don't matter", while at the same time universities and businesses are sacking people for mild critiques of BLM, is productive?

You right, it is 100% an empire in rapid decline. I think history will pay close analysis to the causes and key players in creating such a divided society. "United we Stand" - laughable. Division and inequality is the fire and leadership willing to throw on the fuel is the arteries.
