I think you are being idealistic. Just because today’s independents behave in a particular way doesn’t mean that would be the same in the future. It’s hard enough for a party to describe their political views/policies let alone a single individual being able to do that. Just because today’s independents appear to consider the views of their electorate doesn’t mean that all independents would behave that way.
Many independents in the past have been voted in because they have a single perspective that seems to mark them out. Pauline Hansen. Jacqui lambie. Andrew Wilkie. A house full of such people is an interesting proposition. Why you think it would lead to better policies and outcomes beats me. How on earth do you think they would manage to pick a leader, produce a functioning government and produce outcomes beats me
