I'll always remember my first arrival in Queensland: a protruding cattle-grid ( crunch ), followed by 100 miles of barely bitumenised single track.
Followed by 60 miles of bulldust with patches of rocks and stones for light relief.
I fell off my motorbike twice in that 60 miles: the emus probably thought it funny.
Although to be fair, it was back o' Bourke.
