Happy New Year 2012 to all who's contributed to the MGO discussion thread!

Just one quick comment on the PNG political stalemate issue. I think that this issue can be resolved without bloodshed and shouldn't have much implications on MGO. As long as the military and police refuse to take sides and maintain public civil order, then there shouldn't be any problem. Thus far, it seems that public order is being maintained. Eventually, my opinion is that Somare will be sidelined and O'Neill will still end up being the PM. Seems that the public in general wants change in the political ranks (i.e. favouring O'Neill), and as long as Somare does not resort to violence to wrestle back power, the issue can be resolved.

I haven't seen much public press on the most recent developments. Anyone has any idea? Is there anyone on the ground in PNG who can shed some light on the latest development? Thanks.
