Funny, BOF was the one politician starting to remove the gravy train. He has now gone.

"FEW PERKS FOR LEADER WHO ENDED GRAVY TRAIN Geoff Chambers

UNDER strict laws imposed by his own government, Barry O’Farrell will receive limited perks when he departs office.

The 54-year-old angered ex-premiers Neville Wran, Nick Greiner and Bob Carr when he slashed former state leader entitlements in 2012.

Now, as he prepares to leave the state’s top office, the Ku-ring-gai MP will be able to claim entitlements for a limited 12-month period. After that he loses his entitlements.

Under Mr O’Farrell’s original plan, he wanted to take away all the perks, including air travel, office space, state cars and staff.

This plan was fiercely opposed by the former premiers, who obtained legal advice about their lifetime entitlements.

As a compromise, Mr O’Farrell put a limit of five years for premiers to be able to access perks. The state’s 43rd premier has been in office for just over three years, after assuming the role on March 28, 2011.

Mr O’Farrell stands to earn an estimated taxpayer-funded parliamentary pension of $130k a year if he was to resign from parliament"
