    If it's not a Tesla or similar rated electric vehicle, the government will have lost all credibility on yet another front. Let's see what they do and how the rationallise any other decision. I know the usual response.

    In the absence of an operational case to the contrary, vehicles deemed by the vehicle manufacturers to be prestige, performance vehicles or sports cars (including but not limited to eight-cylinder sports sedans, wagons and coupes) are excluded from selection for fleet vehicles.

    When selecting vehicles within the Australian Government Fleet, procurement officials must ensure that the vehicle:


    Has a five star ANCAP rating;

    Meets the minimum fit for purpose requirements;

    Provides value for money; and

    Addresses environmental considerations.
