One would think "unlikely" as the business has large capital requirements given Mr Joyce's (and Mrs Hudson's) failure to order and pay for new aircraft in a timely fashion. The fleet has been allowed to dramatically age.

There is also the chance of travel being affected by the economic downturn. We have yet to see figures, but there has been at least one report alleging that demand for domestic leisure travel is softening. If so, all other considerations being equal, QAN's revenue and especially its net profits will be lower.

Then we have the little matter of the oil price. QAN has already said it's hiking domestic fares by 3.5 per cent.

Lastly, the 'ghost flights' matter may well result in a o=penalty of greater than A$600 million.
