The real elephant in the room as far as Zambian investment is China and its mining interests in Africa.
We would certainly be deluding ourselves to think that there is an level playing field in that regard in central and southern Africa. china is a huge, hungry resource player. ..and I Africa, away from prying eyes you can play as dirty as you like.
China has huge designs on Zambain resources as it does in its surrounding states. It does not surprise me that ZRL did not get its EIS as this may well conflict with Chinese interests in the area.
Do not underestimate the influence China has in Africa, just ask the Congelese , Malawians, etc etc etc.
Happy to expand if anyone is interested. I have spent most of my life in Africa.
